In the UK, signs outside football stadiums show a ball made only of hexagons, a geometric impossibility. Mathematician Matt Parker of @standupmaths challenged us to create a real version.
The Impossiball, made from 63 panels, appears hexagon-only from specific angles. There are 30 hexagons, 16 pentagons, and 2 octagons.
This design uses warped panel edges to achieve the effect, taking four days to stitch together.
