Their new logo is half a ball already.

Ahead of Football Manager 26, the game rebuilt its identity around a new symbol that folds an F and an M together, drawn from the shape of a classic football. That gave us a running start, a logo already rooted in ball construction. The brief was easy to say and hard to do: make a real, spherical, leather version of it and see what kind of ball it turns into.

The symbol sits on two sides, joined by stripes.

After a few explorations, this is where we landed. The Football Manager symbol reads on two opposite sides of the ball, with stripes running through the middle to connect them. The thin lines between the letters were the hard part, getting them to stitch cleanly without puckering took the most patience. Adding the connecting stripes, by comparison, was the easy bit.

It made it into the game.

The ball ended up inside Football Manager 26 itself, rebuilt as one of the game's new 3D balls. You have to look carefully, but it is in there, somewhere in the finished game. A physical take on a digital logo, hand stitched and sent back to a screen.
