In spring 2023, an amateur mathematician named David Smith discovered the elusive 'einstein' tile. Nicknamed the hat, when laid flat, it creates an aperiodic pattern that never repeats. The Hat Trick combines 60 hats with the power of pentagons to create a sphere, rendering the hat inert.
